No surprise: the advance of artificial intelligence is happening at light speed. Since the arrival of language assistant ChatGPT, this development has also become more visible to the general public. Indeed, the possibilities would be groundbreaking for anyone involved in producing content in any form. From the perspective of our Learning Management Software, the question arises at Procademy : Is an application also conceivable for online and offline learning? Spoiler alert: yes. We give you five prompts for a better learning journey.
Still, first this
For completeness, still backtracking: because what is ChatGPT? Quite precisely: a super advanced language model, where GPT stands for Generative Pretrained Transformer. It is designed to generate human-like responses based on given input. But here comes the interesting thing: ChatGPT is definitely not your average chatbot. It offers endless possibilities in language processing and artificial intelligence.
When you get started with it, you soon discover that ChatGPT goes beyond providing simple answers to your questions. It can produce detailed and stunningly smart answers, sometimes even better than a human could. The applications are endless. For example, you can ask for help coming up with a creative marketing strategy for your business, get inspiration for designing a unique logo, or get tips on how to organize a successful event. In this article, we are going to look at five possible prompts to create an even better learning journey.
#1 ChatGPT provides the frameworks
Get a first draft of your learning path on paper from ChatGPT? You can. Based on mountains of data, the tool is well able to determine what the main and minor issues are and to look at them from the right theoretical and didactic frameworks.
Therefore, a possible prompt, at the very beginning of setting up your hybrid learning pathway could be:
"Provide appropriate learning objectives for training on [topic]. In doing so, advise which learning objectives can be achieved through self-study (e-learning and submission of assignments) and which learning objectives are best achieved through physical meetings."
You will fiddle with this output. Do you agree with the learning objectives? And the recommendations for distribution on and offline? If not, indicate what you think is wrong with each learning objective or advice. ChatGPT will provide feedback on the necessary adjustments, including apologies for the e.
Next, you can also dive into the logistics of your learning journey:
"Please advise program of (possibly) live meetings and duration."
We tested these prompts in practice, of course, for a learning program on information security. You can read along in that chat conversation here and continue it yourself if you wish.
#2 An outline of ChatGPT
With the frameworks in place, you can then venture into the content. What content should there be for the offline training? What chapters for the e-learning? With ChatGPT, you can go through each section given at #1, to determine the content, or at least get started.
Possible prompts: "Give a brief summary of Part 1, the live meeting. What is the table of contents of that training? What are the key takeaways?"
Or; "For the e-learning [component], I want you to give me the chapters it should consist of. In addition, indicate what the key-takeaways are for each section and how best to test the material."

#3 Personalization
You can then also use the language assistant to tailor your learning path more closely to your learners. Within the chat in which you have now had your initial material produced by ChatGPT, you are going to ask to personalize this material.
An example of what you might ask: "I want to personalize this material to fit my participants' different learning styles. Ask me the questions that will help you determine the appropriate learning styles."
And, once you've established that with ChatGPT, "Give me suggestions on how to personalize the curriculum so that it matches the learning styles identified."
Looking for very specific layers of personalization? If so, you can also zoom in on the specific personalization you have in mind, i.e., "Give me suggestions on how to better connect the lesson material to current events so that it aligns with identified learning styles.", or "Give me three personalized learning style pathways that will ensure that the lesson material is as well understood as possible by this target audience."

#4 Content versus review
Need a quick first draft of the right test questions for a piece of content? ChatGPT is uniquely capable of extracting the main thread from a given piece of text, presenting you with a summary and formulating the right questions to test a student's most important knowledge.
Use the following prompt:
"Read the following text:
Input: [Text]
Prompt: Prepare [number of] questions by which you test whether someone has understood the text read correctly. Suggest which questions could use an interactive element in the test and what that might look like. List possible wrong answers for each question and give a short correct answer for each question itself. Don't always make the correct answers the longest answers."

#5 Judge the wares
ChatGPT is also able to review your content from a desired perspective. This way, you can find out whether the material is in line with the target group. Whether you have not yet explored certain parts in depth and whether your language is appropriate for the target group.
To get a good review of your content, use the following prompt:
"I want you to assume the role of a learner. That means that you [name here some characteristics of your target audience , such as age, education level, position, etc.]. You will soon have gone through the learning process, which includes all the content from this chat, and are going to put the material into practice. I want feedback from you on the following points:

Before the flag goes out
If you've studied ChatGPT a bit, you've heard the message before: ChatGPT's output is only as good as the input it receives. And even with the best conceivable prompts, the outcome is always one that you need to thoroughly check AND polish. On top of that, copyright-wise it is tricky to use ChatGPT's output one on one in your e-learning or training and your personal experience and vision are indispensable for a good end product.
Still, you can save a lot of time by using the above prompts. Time you can invest in even better content. Does that make ChatGPT itself a better learning environment? Perhaps not. But that it enables you to work faster and promises to put the freed up time into content? If so, sure.
